Accessories For Your RV

By:

I remember when my uncle Bert bought one of the very first RV's ever made, many years ago. Boy oh boy, things have sure changed. Back then you could hardly walk around in those things, and sitting at the tablewell, let's just say that your deodorant had better be working. But that's the past -- today's RV's are spacious and more comfortable than ever. I thought that in this article I would give you my recommendations for some useful RV accessories.

What should be the first thing on your list? Here's my number one recommendation: an RV air conditioner. Yes, I know they are expensive, but they are worth it. They will keep you cool and comfy in the hottest of weather - and that's no small feat if you are traveling in the south this summer! I repeat: make the purchase of a good RV air conditioner the first thing on your shopping list.

Next item for your shopping cart? An RV backup camera. Attached near the business end of your RV, the camera will transmit a very clear image on a display screen for you to use when you are backing up your rig. This is also an essential - why risk injuring someone, or damaging your rig? You can get them with embedded microphones (for communicating with the outside world) -- you can even get units that display the picture right in your rearview mirror - you'll think that you're James Bond (and your neighbors will be SO envious).

Here's a more mundane recommendation: Make sure that your rig is outfitted with the proper size and type of RV holding tanks. These tanks hold all the nasty 'waste' from the you-know-where (ugh!), until you get a chance to empty it at your favorite campsite. You had better inspect yours -- have you ever been in an RV with a leaking holding tank? Pee-yuu!

And while we're at it, you might as well let your dealer inspect your water tank (this is the tank that holds fresh water, so you have a water supply even when you are traveling). When they do this, have them also take a look at your RV water pump. If necessary, have a new one installed. These 2 items are necessary when you travel, because without them you will literally be high and dry.

Want some more recommendations? Well, how about a good quality TV? Conventional wisdom says you're not supposed to be watching TV when you are out, but let's face it - everyone does. And if the wife wants to watch her favorite soap opera, she'll thank you that you brought one along.

But you'll end up staring at a blank TV screen if you don't invest in this next item: an RV satellite antenna. You will need this if you want to watch TV, as you will need a way to capture the TV signals with you are on the road - and after all, you can't hook up to a neighbor's cable box when you're out there, can you?

So, there you are -- some GREAT accessories for your RV, accessories for modern families, that is. So, get down to your local RV dealership and get some of this stuff. We'll see you on the road this summer!
